On a RS Liberty or early WRX the coils are shit. Replacing with the later type 3 wire coils means the module can be deleted. The coils fire better, the system is simplified and reliability is improved. On 97-00 WRX with wasted spark coils and HT leads, it's probably of lesser benefit.

Time for some MY03-05 WRX big port heads Rossco!! Your cams will work, may need to do some setup work (bucket swapping or stelliting the valve stem tips a couple of thou) to get the cams to fit as the base circle can be slightly different with the AVCS vs non-AVCS cams (or you might be lucky!!), but I'm sure your head builder is more than capable

If you can get yours sorted though, thats even better.

Yeah, you can use the my08 STI heads Xeon has for sale. Just delete the AVCS stuff and you should be good to go.

Shimless buckets FTW. and once you delete the AVCS gear, the cams you bought should go straight in.

I'd need to source rocker covers & AVCS block off plates?

You don't have to block the AVCS at all.. keep all the solenoids connected, just run standard fixed cam gears with your cams.

AVCS cam covers are different to non-AVCS ones, so you'll need those.
