I don't kow if it's that easy on 99/00 model. It only has 2 ignition drivers unlike the pre 97 that has 4. Maybe you could group them into pairs and waste spark them? Have you seen it done on a 99?

There is a thread on Rexnet in which someone has done so to a V5 or V6, something like that. Also, with the help of Tuna I'm setting up a MY02 engine loom to suit my 99 wrx. As you've mentioned, it involves grouping them into pairs. I've got a diagram around here somewhere for just modifying a 99 loom for COP.

What's the advantage?
I ran 1.7 bar previously with the standard wasted spark coil block & had no mis-fire issue.

Heads may not be fucked. This happens to heaps of Suby heads.

I work on a limit of 3-4 threads down into the plug hole, more than that & I reckon it's a problem, less than that & they're good to go.

I always knock the lumps off around the plug holes - those ridges cause hot sopts which cause the cracks, remove them & polish over the area & the problem goes away. Removing the ridges usually gets rid of about 50% of the crack & the rest won't go anywhere once the hot spot is removed.

The cracks have propagated to the valve seats which are in interference fit to the heads, there is a chance that a valve seat may dislodge when hot & that would an expensive GAME OVER!
